Ms. Ochoa

Hello!

 

My name is Ms. Ochoa and I am delighted to join the First Grade Team at Maxwell Academy! This will be my 3rd year at Maxwell. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from UCLA in Biology. Initially, I was on the path to becoming a Pediatrician. I was pursuing medicine as a means of helping others in my community. I soon realized I was trying to address critical issues in the wrong context. I joined a program called Jumpstart where I taught preschoolers during my undergrad career. That’s where I fell in love with teaching and started my journey towards becoming a teacher. I went on to obtain my Master’s degree in Teaching and Multiple Subject Credential from Azusa Pacific University. Additionally, I have taught in the districts of Azusa and Baldwin Park Unified. 

 

Between my home life and my school life, there is never a dull moment! Whenever I have the chance, I enjoy hiking in the earliest hours of the weekends. Both my parents were born and raised in Peru, so I welcome finding Peruvian cuisines all over L.A. county. Lastly, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and my 5 year old dog.
